So the last journal was posed way back in October of 2012. Well, 2013 has come and gone and now we are four days into 2014. It's about time there was some more noise in here. *wipes off dust and cobwebs*
I've been taking a leisurely stroll through the folders of our humble gallery and you know what I discovered? We have some wonderful artists in here. All of you. Be you young or old, experienced or not, digital or traditional, but all ever learning. You are all quite amazing. You've gathered here to show us your lovingly crafted elemental characters in a place where they will be appreciated regardless of whether other groups think they were well drawn or not. And the best part is, these works are not drowned in a sea of art.
I think many of us here have experienced this in other groups. We work our hardest on a piece only to have it rejected by more exclusive groups and ones that will take it also take 50 other works that day. We might get a few more views but not anything near what we were hoping these groups would do for us. And help and advice is hard to come by.
I see something in this group that is different from those. It could be because we, too, are lost in a sea of groups or because your Admins are not as active as we should be. But I think there is a benefit to the fact that we specifically cater to a special class of Sonic FCs. Elemental ones. All of us are here because we love elementalists and so we crafted a character with the powers we love and placed them in this gallery where they could be seen by others who share that love.
And so with all the talk aside I would like to announce that I will be hosting a contest for any who are willing to participate.
The challenge; The Best and The Worst.
I want to see your characters at their best. What is the greatest thing that could happen to them? Show their reaction to it. Would they show of that 1st place trophy or give a great big hug to their best friend who finally came back after 10 years? Take a look at your character's dreams and aspirations and draw them achieving it with full pride and joy.
I also want to see them at their worst. We all have those horrible days. Make them sob tears and snot over their dead cat. Show them shoved face first into the mud by the town/class bully. Miserable and dejected after a break up. Take a look at your character's dreams and aspirations and draw them failing miserably with all the pain and tears that come with it.
As an artist, learning to be able to draw these emotions is a valuable lesson to learn in deed. If you wish to write about it instead, go right ahead. It is important to learn how to write those scenes as well. But if you go that route, make sure to describe the event with full emotional force. If you only wish to draw one of the scenarios, that is fine as well. But extra consideration will be given to those who tackle both. They can be in two separate submissions or in the same one.
I will not be able to create a folder for you to submit your entries to. Instead I want you to submit them to what ever folder you would normally place them in but with a big 3CE in front of the title and link them in the comments of a journal I will make for that purpose. But before I can do that I need to hear from those who are interested in participating. There will be prizes in the form of art requests.
Have a wonderful day
Hope to hear from you,
